lyrics
Cloud Rider, the stratosphere’s got no map
Fingers of lightning nudge, what propellers try to budge
Motion on, are you flying or falling now?
Your legs can’t reach the ground
You better grow up quickly now
Listen to the clouds they sing
The thunder knows just what you think
So gray, they teach you all the tricks
To be like them until it sticks
Watch your skin evaporate
Turn to rolling white and gray
This is what you wanted, Nimbus!
…Right?
Antidote, Antidote, hurry up before we choke
Antidote, Antidote, ‘fore my mind goes up in smoke
Get me the hell out of here!
Antidote, Antidote, hurry up before we choke
Antidote, Antidote, ‘fore my mind goes up in smoke
Get me the hell out of here!
Breathe the mist that you have become
Stay a while and make it rain…(your thoughts) your thoughts
Let the wind be our home
Wherever it takes us, the shape that it makes us
Is where we wanna go
So bounce and sway (if you agree)
The whilrwind (puts you to sleep) to sleep, to sleep (to sleep)
No more objects weigh you down
No more running, no more need to
See the future just as we do
Tonight’s the night you learn to fly!
Antidote, Antidote, hurry up before I choke
Antidote, Antidote, ‘fore my mind goes up in smoke
Get me the hell out of here!
Antidote, Antidote, hurry up before I choke
Antidote, Antidote, ‘fore my mind goes up in smoke
Get me the hell out of here!
I think I recognize the faces
My eyes between the spaces
Where the sleet and rain reflect my soul
Off shouting anvil clouds
Where the thunder burns so loud
We’re going down
We’re going down (Down down down down)
(down down down down)
Safe on the ground
I’m coming down (Get me the hell out of here!)

From the first to the last note, this is a highly accomplished offering. Moving through various themes and movements, the songs on the album lead us by the hand of fate from heartbreak, through despair, and onwards to eventual hope, acceptance and redemption. Charlie Bramald’s lyrics and delivery are a masterclass in performance, all ably backed up by consummate and confident musicianmanship from the band members. Highly recommended. Dean Thom
